Homework Club

NOTE: Due to COVID-19 Restrictions, the Club is currently virtual. Please contact us for more details.

The Upper Room Church Homework Club started as a response to the needs of children & parents in our church. From a new language to limited classroom support to the challenges of multiple changes in accommodation, children were struggling with their homework.

We believe we can help parents develop life skills as they support their children alongside our Homework Club volunteers. If they don’t speak English well enough, we provide translation as they work through homework together. This has multiple benefits beyond educational attainment – from improving community cohesion, reducing isolation and creating a sense of personal accomplishment. While the club is an expression of our faith (‘Loving others’), it is open to everyone, and we are now beginning to coordinate with local schools to communicate our services and widen our impact!
