Upper Room Church is affiliated with the Free Methodist Church of the UK & Ireland. Rooted in Wesleyan theology, the Free Methodist Church was born out of the Wesleyan holiness movement and efforts to abolish slavery in the USA in the mid-19th century. Here in the UK & Ireland almost 200 years later, this family of churches finds their identity in the freedom of Christ, as people who have been set free, are living free, and bringing freedom by the power of the gospel.

As one humble branch of Christ’s global Church, the FMC UK&I’s mission is to “love God, love people, and make disciples. To bring wholeness to the world through healthy biblical communities of holy people multiplying disciples, leaders, groups and churches.” With an emphasis on both personal holiness (loving God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength) and social holiness (loving our neighbor as ourself), this denomination strives to be Spirit-led and Biblically-grounded, while living with deep concern and care for the lost and marginalised in our societies.

Pastor Jake was raised, trained, and ordained in the Free Methodist Church of Southern California, USA. Upon being invited on as lead pastor of Upper Room Church in 2025, the leadership of the church decided to join the Free Methodist Church of the UK & Ireland in 2026.
